Riding a bicycle in Las Vegas is an activity that involves some degree of danger, and those who spend their time on bicycles tend to understand these risks and are generally ready for them. However, few if any people could ever be prepared for being run down from behind, as one man tragically was yesterday morning in a fatal Las Vegas bicycle accident. The driver in the accident was arrested after fleeing police.
According to authorities, the latest fatal Las Vegas bicycle accident occurred yesterday morning when a 27-year-old man whose name was not released was riding his bicycle in a northbound direction Rampart Boulevard, just north of Del Webb Boulevard. Suddenly, 38-year-old Feliciano Gonzales drove his SUV off the road and into the bicycle lane in which the bicyclist was riding. He struck him from behind and sent him flying onto the road’s shoulder. The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Gonzalez attempted to flee the scene but was soon apprehended and charged with drunken driving resulting in death and hit-and-run causing a death. Both charges are felonies.
