Fatal Nevada Car Accidents on the Rise in 2010

While every year is different when it comes to traffic conditions and safety, 2010 is shaping up to be a bad one when it comes to fatal Nevada car accidents.  The trends regarding these accidents show that many types of incidents are on the rise so far in 2010, and if the same rate of fatal Nevada car accidents continues, 2010 could wind up being one of the more deadly years in recent memory.

2010 Fatal Nevada Car Accident Statistics

According to state records, there have been 126 fatal Nevada car accidents that have resulted in 142 total fatalities.  At the same point on the calendar last year, there were 123 fatal Nevada car accidents that led to 137 fatalities.  Despite the overall average of approximately 500 fatalities per year in the state, 2009 wound up being a relatively safe year for drivers as ‘only’ 243 fatalities were recorded.  In 2007, there were 431. In terms of the Las Vegas area, there have already been 53 fatalities as a result of Clark County car accidents, up from 41 at this point last year.

2010 Fatal Las Vegas Pedestrian, Motorcycle and Bicycle Accident Statistics

Even though the number of fatal Nevada car accidents is rising so far in 2010, officials have also noticed a slight downturn when it comes to fatal Las Vegas pedestrian, motorcycle and bicycle accident statistics.  For instance, at this point last year there were 18 fatalities as a result of Clark County pedestrian accidents.  That number sits at 14 in 2010.  Clark County motorcycle accidents had resulted in 20 fatalities at this point last year, and this year that number is 17.  There has been one death as a result of Clark County bicycle accidents this year where last year the number was five.
