Fatal Nevada Car Accident Leads to One Fatality, Four Injuries

People who drive for any amount of time soon come to understand that certain scenarios can present challenges that require quick decisions, and that if the wrong decision is made that people can get hurt or killed.  Tragically, it appears that a faulty decision could be at the crux of a fatal Nevada car accident that occurred over the weekend that left one woman dead and four others injured.

According to police, the latest fatal Nevada car accident occurred on Saturday at approximately 7:30 a.m. at the interchange of U.S. 95 and U.S. 93 near Boulder City.  A Chevrolet Tahoe was moving in a southbound direction on U.S. 93 and apparently failed to yield to a Cadillac Escalade that was moving to the north on U.S. 95 as it came towards the interchange.  The vehicles collided, and as a result of the collision 79-year-old Sarah Huravitch, of Earp, California was killed.  In addition, both drivers and two 8-year-old girls were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Nevada Car Accident Statistics

First, we’d like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Huravitch.  Losing a life because of a driving mistake is never anything but tragic.  This is especially so because failing to yield the right-of-way has always been one of the leading causes of car accidents across the United States.  In addition, this fatal Nevada car accident will only add to the statistics overall in regards to these occurrences.  Every year, approximately 500 people are killed in Nevada car accidents, and that number has held steady in recent years.

While it appears that the death has been ruled accidental, that does not mean that the driver of the Tahoe will not face civil liability.  If the family of Ms. Haravitch files a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit, it’s possible that they could recover damages for funeral and medical expenses as well as other forms of compensatory damages depending on the specific facts and evidence involved with the case.
