When people get behind the wheel of a vehicle, they owe a legal duty of care to those around them. This includes other motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists and most certainly any passengers they are carrying. When a driver makes a mistake that harms anyone who is owed this duty, he or she could be liable for the damages that are incurred. Tragically, it seems that a mistake made by a driver this morning led to the deaths of three people, including himself.
The latest fatal Las Vegas auto accident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on an on-ramp closed to traffic from the eastbound Las Vegas Beltway to northbound Interstate 15. Apparently, the driver drove through barricades that indicated that the ramp was not open to traffic, and as a result his vehicle crashed into heavy construction materials that included five steal beams.
All three people in the vehicle were killed by what police described as blunt force trauma to their heads. Those who lost their lives include 19-year-old Nicholas Scheafer of Las Vegas as well as Robert Inouye, 23, and Tiffanee Anderson, 19, both of North Las Vegas. The three people died at the scene, and no word was given as to whether a suspicion of the presence of alcohol is present.
Nevada Auto Accident Statistics
First, we’d like to extend our sincere condolences to the three people who lost their lives at such a young age. Their families and friends are certainly suffering enormously today, as this sort of grief is difficult to overcome. In addition, this incident will only add to the statistics regarding fatal Nevada auto accidents. Every year, approximately 400 people are killed in these collisions and of that total, and that number has remained alarmingly steady in recent years.
