Las Vegas DUI Accident at Bus Stop Sends Three to Hospital

Drinking and driving almost never leads to a positive result, and when something goes wrong under these circumstances, it can go terribly wrong in an instant.  People who are sitting at a bus stop in the middle of the day would not normally be wary of being hit by suspected drunk drivers, but that’s apparently what occurred in yet another Las Vegas DUI accident that took place yesterday.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. at a bus stop located near the intersection of North Rancho Drive and West Lake Mead Boulevard.  According to police, a man was driving his pickup truck in a northbound direction on North Rancho Drive when he apparently ran through a red light and collided with another vehicle.  As a result of this initial collision, the pickup truck went careening into a bus stop where the truck hit a woman who was waiting for a bus to arrive.  The drivers of both vehicles in the initial collision and the woman at the bus stop were all sent to the hospital.  No word was given on any of their conditions.

Nevada DUI Accident Statistics

We’d first like to express our hope that those who were injured are able to recover from their injuries.  Secondly, we’d like to express our regret that this latest Las Vegas DUI accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding these incidents in Nevada.  Every year, approximately 400 people are killed in Nevada auto accidents overall, and for many years now at least one-third of these fatal accidents list alcohol as a factor.
