When we learn to drive, one of the fundamental lessons we are all taught is to approach our navigation defensively, remaining vigilant for the mistakes of others so that we can avoid a serious accident. Unfortunately, there are certain mistakes made by other drivers that no one could expect, such as when someone is heading down a road in the wrong direction. Sadly, that appears to be what occurred over the weekend when a head-on crash left the drivers of both vehicles involved in the accident seriously injured.
According to the Las Vegas Sun:
“Two people were seriously injured Friday night when a car headed in the wrong direction on South Rainbow Boulevard collided head-on with another car, Metro Police said.
The drivers of both cars were taken to University Medical Center with serious to critical injuries, police said.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. just south of West Cougar Avenue. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate a P.T. Cruiser driven by Daniel Hernandez-Plascenca, 26, of Henderson was headed north in the southbound lanes of Rainbow when it hit a Honda Accord, police said.
Hernandez-Plascenca suffered serious injuries, police said.
The other driver, Carlos Alcantara, 28, of Las Vegas suffered critical injuries, police said.”
Investigators have not stated what may have caused the driver to move down the road in the wrong direction. Regardless, the other driver likely has a valid legal claim for damages.
