Motorcycle drivers all tend to understand the risks involved with sharing the road with larger vehicles. Unfortunately, when what seems like a basic and simple mistake is made, drivers and passengers of motorcycles tend to face greater risk than those who are relatively protected inside the cabin of larger vehicles. Tragically, this vulnerability may have been a reason that a motorcyclist was killed this morning in a collision with a sedan.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
“A man was killed this morning when his motorcycle collided with a Honda Accord, North Las Vegas police said.
The accident happened about 8 a.m. at Aliante Parkway and Grasswern Drive. Early reports indicated the motorcycle was traveling south on Aliante when the white Honda pulled into the intersection from Grasswern, police said.
The unidentified motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle. He was transported to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.”
Police did not indicate whether or not charges would be filed against the driver of the Honda. This can be taken to mean that the investigation is only beginning and that it’s believed that the driver of the sedan could be at fault for pulling into the intersection in front of the driver of the motorcycle.
