Another Tragic Holiday Season Crash Results in One Death

Holiday season auto accidents not only seem especially tragic, but they also seem to occur with a higher degree of regularity than at any other time during the year.  The reasons for this perception are obvious, not the least of which is that these types of situations hit home more directly given the overall spirit of people as they celebrate another year gone by.  Such an informal tradition of tragedy appeared to continue in Reno just before New Year’s Eve when one person was killed in an automobile accident.

According to KOLO TV:

“A two-car accident in south Reno Tuesday night has left one man dead and another in a hospital.

According to police, at 10:13pm, the driver of a Kia was attempting to turn southbound onto Double R from Trademark. An SUV driving northbound on Double R hit the driver’s side door of the Kia.

The 21-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the Kia was taken to Renown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV did not appear to have any injuries.

The driver’s name is being held until the family can be notified.”

Authorities are continuing their investigation, and in terms of fault for the accident, it appears that either driver could be at fault.
