Las Vegas Pedestrian Accident Sends Man to Hospital

Las Vegas is a city that’s filled with pedestrians.  Between the tourists who are here spending time downtown or on the Strip or local residents who are taking advantage of the cooler weather that exists during the morning hours, people can be seen everywhere walking around.  Unfortunately, this high number of pedestrians also leads to accidents, and unfortunately, a man was injured this morning when he was hit by a vehicle in Las Vegas.

According to police, the latest Las Vegas pedestrian accident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. when a 55-year-old man whose name has not yet been released attempted to cross the road near the intersection of West Bonanza Road and H Street.  He was hit in the process by a Nissan vehicle and suffered what was described as a serious head injury.  The man was rushed to University Medical Center for treatment.

Nevada Pedestrian Accident Statistics

First, we’d like to send our hope that the man who was injured is able to survive the harm that’s been done to him so he can move on with his life in good health.  Unfortunately, this Las Vegas pedestrian accident will only add to the overall statistics regarding Nevada pedestrian accidents.  Every year, approximately 50 people are killed in these occurrences, which means that someone loses their life nearly every week because of this problem.

Las Vegas Personal Injury Lawyers

More needs to be uncovered in terms of what actually happened before any determination can be made regarding fault.  However, if the man who was injured had the right-of-way and was in a crosswalk, it’s possible that he could have options that include the filing of a Nevada personal injury lawsuit.  If such a lawsuit was filed and was successful, it could bring damages that compensate him for medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been harmed by a vehicle and/or a negligent driver, you need to seek the help of Las Vegas personal injury lawyers who have been holding those who create this type of harm accountable for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today at 888-592-4529 to schedule a free initial consultation.

Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Las Vegas Car Accident

One would assume that driving in an area near the desert with no one around would present little danger to a passenger.  While that may normally be true, it proved to be anything but for an area woman who was killed in a one-vehicle Las Vegas car accident early this morning.  The driver of the vehicle in the crash was hospitalized and is listed in critical condition, and police are investigating the incident.

According to authorities, this Las Vegas car accident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. this morning at the intersection of Erie Avenue and South Las Vegas Boulevard.  The driver of a Dodge Charger, Jason Gallagher, 37, of Henderson, was traveling west at what police described as a ‘high rate of speed’ when it ran through the intersection with South Las Vegas Boulevard.  The vehicle launched into the desert on the other side of the street, rolled several times and came to rest right-side-up.  The identity of the woman who was killed was not released pending notification of family members.

Nevada Car Accident Statistics

First, we’d like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the woman who was killed.  No one should ever have to receive the news they’re about to hear, and we hope they find their way through their grief as quickly as possible.  Secondly, this fatal Las Vegas car accident is the 49th already this year in the Metro jurisdiction, and will only add to the statistics regarding Nevada car accidents overall.  Every year, approximately 500 people are killed in these occurrences, and about one-third are killed in accidents involving alcohol.

Las Vegas Car Accident Lawyers

Nevada law requires that drivers of vehicles carry a legal duty of care for their passengers.  If it’s proven that the driver was negligent in running the stop sign, it’s possible that the family of the woman killed could bring a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit against him.  If such a claim was successful, the family could be awarded damages for lost income, costs of the funeral and burial, medical expenses and loss of companionship.

Man Arrested in Las Vegas DUI Accident that Critically Injures Bicyclist

Drinking and driving is always a dangerous activity regardless of motive or any other specifics.  This is particularly so when someone has allegedly been drinking and driving and is among young people in traffic.  Unfortunately, a young bicyclist paid a heavy price for being in the wrong place at the wrong time after he was hit and seriously injured by a driver who is suspected of being under the influence at the time.

The latest Las Vegas DUI accident occurred just before 9 p.m. on Thursday night when a 15-year-old boy was riding his bicycle near Jones Boulevard and Elkhorn Road in North Las Vegas.  28-year-old Gregory Scott Cambern was driving his pickup truck at the same time smashed into him, leaving him with critical injuries.  Cambern then fled the scene, but was soon located by police after he had also left the vehicle that had been involved in the crash.  He was arrested and charged with DUI with substantial bodily harm, hit and run resulting in injury or death, failure to render aid in an accident and failure to report an accident to police.

Nevada DUI Accident Statistics

We’d first like to send our hopes that the boy, whose name was not released, is able to overcome his injuries and get back into life’s routine.  In addition, this latest Las Vegas DUI accident will only add to the overall statistics in this regard.  Every year, more than 100 people are killed in Nevada traffic accidents where one driver registers a BAC that’s over the legal limit of .08.  In addition, almost half of all fatalities that result from bicycle accidents nationally involve bicyclists who are under the age of 16.

Las Vegas DUI Accident Lawyers

In addition to the slew of serious criminal charges the suspect faces, he could also face significant civil liability if the family of the boy decides to file a Nevada personal injury lawsuit.  If such a suit is filed and is successful, the family could be awarded damages for medical costs, emotional distress and pain and suffering among other forms of compensation.  However, the decision regarding whether or not to file such a claim should only be made with the help of Las Vegas DUI accident lawyers who have been holding drunk drivers accountable for the harm they have caused for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.

Las Vegas Wrongful Death Lawyers

Finally, even though Gonzalez was charged with crimes, that does not prevent the bicyclist’s family from bringing a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit against the driver.  If such a case was successful, the family could be awarded damages for medical, funeral and burial expenses as well as lost income and loss of companionship.

If you find yourself in this situation, you need the help of Las Vegas wrongful death lawyers who have been holding drunk drivers accountable for these losses for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.

Fatal Nevada Car Accidents on the Rise in 2010

While every year is different when it comes to traffic conditions and safety, 2010 is shaping up to be a bad one when it comes to fatal Nevada car accidents.  The trends regarding these accidents show that many types of incidents are on the rise so far in 2010, and if the same rate of fatal Nevada car accidents continues, 2010 could wind up being one of the more deadly years in recent memory.

2010 Fatal Nevada Car Accident Statistics

According to state records, there have been 126 fatal Nevada car accidents that have resulted in 142 total fatalities.  At the same point on the calendar last year, there were 123 fatal Nevada car accidents that led to 137 fatalities.  Despite the overall average of approximately 500 fatalities per year in the state, 2009 wound up being a relatively safe year for drivers as ‘only’ 243 fatalities were recorded.  In 2007, there were 431. In terms of the Las Vegas area, there have already been 53 fatalities as a result of Clark County car accidents, up from 41 at this point last year.

2010 Fatal Las Vegas Pedestrian, Motorcycle and Bicycle Accident Statistics

Even though the number of fatal Nevada car accidents is rising so far in 2010, officials have also noticed a slight downturn when it comes to fatal Las Vegas pedestrian, motorcycle and bicycle accident statistics.  For instance, at this point last year there were 18 fatalities as a result of Clark County pedestrian accidents.  That number sits at 14 in 2010.  Clark County motorcycle accidents had resulted in 20 fatalities at this point last year, and this year that number is 17.  There has been one death as a result of Clark County bicycle accidents this year where last year the number was five.

Nevada Personal Injury Lawyers

Regardless of the statistics, anyone  who ventures out into traffic needs to be wary of dangers that can arise at any point and for almost any reason.  Anyone who has been harmed by a negligent party in any type of traffic accident has legal rights at their disposal that include the filing of a Nevada personal injury lawsuit.  These lawsuits are meant to provide damages in the form of monetary compensation for those who have suffered.

If this includes you or someone you love, you need the help of Nevada personal injury lawyers who have been holding negligent parties accountable for their actions for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates to schedule a free initial consultation.

Hit-and-Run Las Vegas Pedestrian Accident Injures Three People

The Las Vegas Strip is known around the world as an attraction that draws gamblers, visitors who are here to see shows and people who just want to walk around and see the sights that are unlike any others in the world.  While many would feel that there is safety in numbers, that proved not to be the case last night when three people were hurt in a Las Vegas pedestrian accident that has been ruled a hit-and-run.

According to police, the latest Las Vegas pedestrian accident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. directly in front of Margaritaville Las Vegas, which is located at 3555 Las Vegas Boulevard South.  An unidentified man in a black pickup truck jumped the curb after traveling in a northbound direction on Las Vegas Boulevard and slammed into a group of pedestrians, injuring three of them.  The driver fled the scene after the incident and police are searching for this individual.

Nevada Car Accident Statistics

The police also stated that those who were injured did not suffer life-threatening injuries, which is obviously good news.  We hope those that were hurt are able to recover quickly.  In addition, this Las Vegas pedestrian accident will add to the overall statistics regarding Nevada car accidents.  Every year, more than 500 people are killed in Nevada car accidents and 50 people are killed in Nevada pedestrian accidents.

Las Vegas Personal Injury Lawyers

Unfortunately, many people who are hurt in Las Vegas hit-and-run accidents hesitate to seek legal help.  This is not an advisable step, as the majority of those who engage in this conduct are ultimately identified and apprehended.  In addition to the criminal charges hit-and-run drivers face, they could also face civil liability for the damages they cause.  If those who are injured by a hit-and-run driver file successful Nevada personal injury lawsuits, they could be awarded damages for medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been harmed in a Las Vegas hit-and-run accident, you need to seek the help of Las Vegas personal injury lawyers who have been holding those responsible for this type of harm accountable for many years.  Contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.

Airplane Propeller Accident Injures Woman at Airport

Personal injury situations can arise in almost any context, and while there are common types of cases that include Las Vegas car accidents and the like, some scenarios are very strange indeed.  Unfortunately, one woman was victimized by one of these strange situations on Thursday when she was injured by a propeller attached to a plane at McCarran International Airport and sent to the trauma unit at the hospital.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m. when a 21-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was hit in the head by a plane propeller.  The propeller was part of a private Beechcraft Bonanza plane, and the woman’s injuries were not disclosed.  The fact that she was transported to the trauma unit would suggest that she suffered cuts in the least.  The condition of the woman was not disclosed either, and more statements are expected to be released soon.

Las Vegas Personal Injury Scenarios

While few if any statistics are kept in this regard, Las Vegas personal injury scenarios can arise in almost any situation, as stated above.  Furthermore, this sort of incident gives rise to several competing theories of liability.  If the woman decides to bring a Nevada personal injury lawsuit against the party or parties who were allegedly negligent on Thursday, such a claim could be brought on theories such as premises liability on the part of those in charge of the airport location where she was harmed, or there could be a valid claim brought against those who failed to secure the propeller and who allowed her to go near such a dangerous situation.

Las Vegas Personal Injury Lawyers

While more facts obviously need to be made available to determine which parties could be liable for the woman’s injuries, we’d first like to express our hope that she is able to recover from the damage done and get back into her routine as quickly as possible.  In addition, if she does decide to look into the possibility of filing a Nevada personal injury lawsuit, she or anyone else who has been harmed should only do so with the help of Las Vegas personal injury lawyers who have many years of experience in fighting successfully for the rights of those who were wronged.  Those who find themselves in this situation should contact Jack Bernstein & Associates today to schedule a free initial consultation.
